What scares me the most is missing time with friends and family, I've noticed over the last year or so that I'll have lunch with someone and talk about how we don't do this often enough and how we should get together more only to let months go by without seeing each other again. Is it that we are to busy? To caught up in our own lives? Are we to blame or is it society in general?
Whatever the reasons are for this lack in spare time, I vow to change it in my life. To make time for the important things and people, to have more fun, more get togethers, and enjoy each spare minute that I do find! I will do my best to make time stand still long enough for me to make memories but you'll have to meet me half way!!
All the stuff that is suppose to save us time actually costs time. Expectations in all areas are higher, which eats up more time. And if we "waste" time, we are viewed as lazy or worse. Yet taking a quiet walk, reading a book, or talking with friends will make our lives richer and more productive. This from someone who hasn't found time to do any of the above...
ReplyDeleteI think what is most bothersome is how America has come to be in our work day. I could make another comparison to life back when, but I'd rather compare to life in other cultures/country's. We work more hours than any other county yet are the least productive. We don't get enough (if any) vacation time, sick leave, health care etc, and our company's don't support theory "family first" it's hard to have extra time when you're being worked to the bone and then nickel and dime'd to death.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if American companies started caring about Americans the world or at least the United States would be a better place.
Agreed! And America doesn't respect their workers for the most part. Currently, fewer employees are expected to do the same amount of work in the same time period for less pay. We also need to be happier with less, following other countries' examples. They would rather enjoy some free time than maintain huge homes. Of course, that's not keeping with the American dream of bigger = better. Happiness, time to enjoy others, etc. isn't respected as a goal.
